Operating since 1991, Emirates Driving Institute (EDI) is the most admired and successful institute for Driver Training in the UAE. With a fleet of over 1,000 vehicles assisted by multilingual and qualified instructors, EDI provides Driver License Acquisition Training in different vehicle categories such as Light Motor Vehicle (Car), Heavy Bus, Heavy Truck, Shovel, Forklift, and Motor Cycle.
EDI's international partners; the Institute of The Motor Industry in the UK (IMI), the International Association for Driver Education and the Institute of Advanced Motorist in the UK (IAM) play a major role to ensure constant updating and adapting to the latest leading edge driving and testing tuition developments. EDI's Driver Training Methodology has been accredited by AA Driving School in the UK. It has recently been awarded the certification of being an Affiliate of the AA Driving School.
EDI works closely with the Road and Transport Authority (RTA), which has offices within the EDI premises for smooth processing of acquiring learners’ permits as well as UAE driver’s licenses for students.
EDI also provides specialist courses with international standards including Defensive Driving and Desert Driving as well as advanced programmes for executive chauffeurs, bus drivers and training in the use of complex vehicular equipment. EDI has currently 53 branches spread across Dubai and provides Online Registration facility through its website to better serve its customers.

Officially established in 1992, the Sharjah Driving Institute (SDI) is one of the first driver training and academic government institutes in the Arab region.
Earlier owned by Sharjah Municipality, SDI is now fully owned and operated by Emirates Driving Institute (EDI).
Sharjah Municipality and EDI have signed a joint venture to standardize and improve the driver training quality and customer experience to create safer and skilled drivers on the road.
Sharjah Driving Institute aims to be aligned with the core values of Emirates Driving Institute that has built its reputation as a company that delivers quality training and trains individuals to become safer drivers, and is customer centric.
The foundation of the SDI has made a qualitative shift in the quality of drivers' training and qualification in acquiring the UAE driving license.
